Senior Petrophysicist

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Support Development, exploration & appraisal planning and execution activities.
  • Provide discipline input for fast paced integrated evaluations with limited time and data, for onshore and offshore assets.
  • Plan safe well and reservoir data acquisition programs in liaison with other geoscientists and engineers for exploration, appraisal and development wells. Supervise and provide quality assurance of well and reservoir data acquisition.
  • Provide timely evaluation and interpretation of the acquired well and reservoir data (log and core) to help understand the subsurface uncertainties.
  • Provide evaluation of formation and fluids properties which underpin all field and reservoir resources estimation, development and management activities. Clear documentation of resulting fluids distribution and reservoir properties.
  • Interprete and evaluate old new cased hole logs for casing and tubings integrity status.
  • Provide geomechanical modelling to support casing
  • Prepare Pore Pressure & Fracture Gradient and shallow hazard assessment for Well Delivery Plans, as required
  • Support well delivery plan on well placement, orientation, data acquisition program, etc., as required
  • Plan and supervise log data acquisition in producing wells for flood-front monitoring for reservoir performance optimization and propose additional testing for P&A Plans.
  • Coordinate with Geophysics on QI work.
  • Support C&P on evaluating data acquisition plans
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams, including geologists, reservoir engineers, production technologists and well engineers to develop field exploration, appraisal, development and production strategies and plans
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in well and reservoir evaluation techniques, tools and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in data analysis and interpretations.
  • Ensure physical (log prints and digital) database updates
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing petrophysical results and recommendations for management, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Skill with geographix software

Accountabilities:

  • Contribution as part of Geosciences team to cost effective core and log data acquisition, analysis and evaluation
  • Evaluate tubulars integrity and zonal isolations for well completions and recommend remedial cement squeezes where necessary
  • Advice perforation and completion intervals for optimal production of the reservoirs
  • Quality delivery of petrophysical work related to field development definition, execution of drilling, completion, and workover activities.
  • Contribution to quality delivery of hydrocarbon maturation, resource volume estimation, classification and reporting and assurance.
  • Implementation of well & reservoir management activities that will safeguard or optimize the asset production potential and long-term ultimate recovery.
  • Timely and integrated delivery with all other disciplines and stakeholders in the activities of the team, including Wells Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Production Technologies teams, Partners and Regulators.
  • Application of appropriate technologies for preparing and generating geosciences inputs to activities such as exploration, appraisal, development, well planning, and drilling and drilling activities.
  • Geosciences operations/well site duties in the execution of drilling and workover programmes, reservoir surveillance activities and follow-up on production optimisation activities.
  • Pore pressure and fracture gradient prognosis and real-time monitoring for new wells and all well re-entry activities

  • Experience in drilling and data-acquisition operations.
  • Experience in contributing to construction and execution of field development plans and participation in field studies. Appreciation of the impact of field studies on field development and business decisions.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commercial, value creation mind-set, understanding how they contribute, with a drive for cross-functional integration and risk management
  • Willingness to step outside of discipline silos to help deliver integrated products.
  • Experience in tight reservoirs evaluation
  • Strong data management and digitalization skills

  • Experience in QI / AVO will be an advantage.
  • High degree of professionalism and a drive for excellence and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • University degree in numerical sciences, electrical engineering or geosciences with more than 10 years experience in upstream oil and gas industry, onshore and offshore assets. An MS.c will be an advantage.
  • Strong technical background and competence in geosciences, risks and uncertainties management, field development & execution, wells & reservoir management
  • Proficiency in geosciences technical, computing and productivity tools.
  • A natural integrator participating in activities and working in large, diverse multi- disciplinary teams as well as good stakeholder management skills for interface with partners and regulators
